Marina Sirtis is going all-in on Michael Dorn and his Star Trek/Worf series idea.

Marina Sirtis would love to see Michael Dorn get his shot at being Captain Worf on his own series. Dorn has been eager to do the idea for some time, and with the actor nearing 70, it’s starting to look like now or never for the veteran Star Trek alumni to get his shot.

Sirtis spoke to Big Issue (via TrekMovie.com) and shared her reasons for why she’d want a Worf series.

"I think personally, it should be a Worf show. First of all, he’s a really popular character. And it’s never been done before – to have it about the Klingon Empire instead of the Federation with the Klingons as like, recurring. Have it be about the Klingon Empire and how they deal with stuff. I think it would be great. And although I would hardly be in it – I think I might be in it because Michael Dorn’s my best friend – I wouldn’t mind because I think it would be a really good idea.”"

Marina Sirtis brings up some good points about Worf and Star Trek

She’s right, Worf is an incredibly popular character and the series has never tackled a Klingon leading a Federation ship before. Granted, Sirtis brings up the fact that she and Dorn are good friends in real life, so maybe that has something to do with her backing the idea, but that doesn’t mean it’s still not a good idea.

Dorn has long been a popular member of the Star Trek family, despite the fact that Gene Roddenberry didn’t like the idea of a Klingon getting his own storylines in the Next Generation. Eventually, the writers won out and started writing Worf-specific plotlines and those ended up being some of the best of the franchise.

If this show is ever made, which is huge if, at the moment, Ronald D. Moore would have to be part of the project to some degree. Preferably as the series show-runner but if he can provide any bit of help that would be awesome.

Plus, no Nu-Trek Klingon designs. Unless you want to make them a different species of Klingon. That would be interesting.
