Star Trek: William Shatner wants to be part of a specific MCU franchise
By Chad Porto
William Shatner of Star Trek fame is open to the MCU.
Captain Kirk isn’t done guarding the galaxy just yet, it appears. The man that made James T. Kirk a household name, William Shatner, is 90 years old and not slowing down one bit. He recently released a new movie with Christopher Lloyd, in a film called Senior Moment. He’s still active and even rides horses still. Shatner may have gotten older but he’s far from old. So it’s not surprising that Shatner wants a turn in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).
With rumors that Mark Hamil may appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Express.co.uk asked Shatner if he’d appear if asked and Shatner was more than happy to oblige.
"Yeah! I’ve guarded the galaxy many times."
Shatner in the MCU would be fantastic and would be a nice tip of the cap to a sci-fi legend.
William Shatner also reiterated that he’d return to Star Trek as well
In the same interview, Shatner continued to hype up the idea of returning to Star Trek as well, just as long as the role was worth coming back for.
"I would be delighted to be a part of Star Trek if it was something worthy."
Shatner’s last turn as Captain James T. Kirk was for 1994’s Star Trek: Generations, in which Kirka and Captain Jean-Luc Picard teamed up to stop a mad scientist who was trying to enter a plane of existence called the Nexus.
In that film, Kirk was killed off, essentially ending Shatner’s run with the franchise. Shatner has waffled since then about his desire to do more Trek, with him being interested in returning for an Enterprise-arch with Scott Bakula but also turning down that same opportunity when the pitch was changed to a different scenario.
If Kirk does return to Star Trek, you better believe that fans will lose their minds to some degree.
