Spock’s intended will return in Strange New Worlds

The last time we saw T’Pring, Spock’s bride, was in the season two episode of Star Trek: The Original Series “Amok Time.” T’Pring wasn’t interested in being Spock’s wife so she demanded the kal-if-fee which was a battle between Spock and a champion she chose. In the end, T’Pring ended up with Stonn, the pure-blood Vulcan she wanted. And we never saw or heard from her again. But Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be changing that next year when it premieres its first season.

According to a tweet by Trek Central, actress Gia Sandhu has been cast in three episodes of the series, appearing as T’Pring. (Also provided was a screenshot of the In Production details for Strange New Worlds which showed T’Pring appearing in three episodes.) Trek Central does specify that “it’s highly likely this is the same T’Pring” from Star Trek’s “Amok Time,” but, of course, there are no guarantees. Still, it would be highly unusual to have a Vulcan in the past with the exact same name as a Vulcan in the future and not be the same one.

Strange New Worlds’ news hasn’t pleased all fans

After Trek Central shared the news on July 27th, fans were quick to respond that, in the Original Series, Spock had not seen T’Pring since they were children so if she returns in Captain Pike’s time period, it will essentially retcon what Spock had divulged in “Amok Time,” unless they use her in such a manner that Spock doesn’t see her, which could happen.

It’s entirely possible we’ll see an episode where we get to meet T’Pring before Spock sees her again. So this isn’t necessarily a mistake with the timeline or canon, and we’ll just have to wait to see if this actually happens as Strange New Worlds is not listed as one of her projects on Gia Sanhu’s IMDB page.
