The Orville season 3 is still on-track

As the production of season three of The Orville trudges slowly forward, more information is trickling out from the actors and producers, giving fans sneak peeks at a rumored October 2021 premiere which the Youtube channel WDIM Sci-Fi Movie and Series Breakdown shared in a recent video. Some of these details you might already know, but I’m including them here anyway to make sure nothing gets missed as I’m waiting as anxiously as you are!

J. Lee who plays Lt. Commander John LeMarr announced on his Twitter account on July 15th that he’d wrapped his episodes for the season.

Both Kai Wener and BJ Tanner, who play Dr. Claire Finn’s sons also announced that they had completed filming their scenes for the season.

Annie Winters has joined the cast as Charlie Burke, presumably to replace John LeMarr as the helmsman of The Orville. Winters was wearing a red uniform in the cast picture that was recently shared online which adds credence to that presumption.

There will be ten episodes this season instead of the original eleven that was mentioned; however with each episode being longer, the ten episodes should be equivalent to fifteen episodes.

The series tripled the number of effects for the season compared to last season.

Director Jon Cassar has promised about two space battles within each episode.

On July 27th, producer Tom Costantino shared a picture on Twitter of the Planetary Union Central sign which has a new star. This could mean the Krill have joined the Union as that was in the works at the end of season two.

And finally, though three of the stars have finished filming, Costantino confirmed on July 29th that the series is still shooting.

And that’s a wrap on the updates. Hopefully, we’ll get a trailer soon, hopefully before Star Trek Day on September 9th! And fingers crossed we will get a release this year!
