Connor Trinneer’s fans are consistent

The 55th anniversary of Star Trek is right around the corner, and Creation Entertainment is hosting a five-day convention at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas from August 11-15. Included in the over one hundred guests will be William Shatner, Jeri Ryan, Kelsey Grammer, Brent Spiner, and Connor Trinneer, who played Charles “Trip” Tucker, III, the chief engineer on Star Trek: Enterprise for four seasons.

In a recent interview with the actor, Assignment X writer Abbie Bernstein asked Trinneer what fans usually wanted to know about his time as Trip when they meet him at conventions. Unsurprisingly, most all of them are upset about the character’s demise in the series finale, “These are the Voyages.” But along with revealing their fondness for Trip, they also want to know what the character would be doing if he hadn’t been killed off.

Does Connor Trinneer have an answer for the fans?

Trinneer didn’t mention what he thinks Trip would be doing now, but the follow-up Star Trek: Enterprise novel, The Good That Men Do” revealed that the chief engineer had faked his own death because of an impending Romulan attack. Trip joins forces with Section 31 in order to prevent the attack on the soon-to-be-formed Coalition of Planets. In the book, Captain Archer, Lt. Reed, and Dr. Phlox are all in on the fake death.

That revelation could open up the possibility of Trip Tucker returning to the Star Trek universe with the introduction of the Section 31 series, depending upon the timeline. There’s nothing written about his potential appearance, but with many actors from previous Star Trek series returning to the newer series, there’s no reason why this couldn’t be a possibility.

At any rate, if Trip Tucker were alive (and I believe he is because I have jettisoned the finale in my mind), he would, most likely, be working alongside Admiral Archer, possibly in charge of the engineering department for the entire Federation.

What do you think? Where would Trip Tucker be now if you don’t include the series finale?

Next. Connor Trinneer didn’t understand Trip’s death. dark
