The Borg Queen is coming back for Picard

It looks like Admiral Jean-Luc Picard hasn’t seen the last of the Borg Queen after all. Things didn’t end so well for her when he last saw her, but Star Trek: Picard has decided it’s time to bring back one of the admiral’s greatest enemies in season two of the series which will release next year, perhaps to give her a second chance at battle.

The villainous role will be played by Annie Wersching, known for her roles in 24 and The Vampire Diaries, and TVLine reports that her turn at the character will be recurring so this might not be on the only season in which she appears.

A Star Trek alum will play the Borg Queen

This isn’t Wersching’s first time in the Star Trek universe. Fans of Star Trek: Enterprise may remember her from the first season episode, “Oasis.” The then 25-year-old played Liana, the daughter of the chief engineer aboard a ship that crashed 22 years previously and was now stranded. That acting role was Wersching’s first on television, and she nailed both the innocence and the guilt as she fought against telling Trip Tucker the truth about her family.

Wersching’s return to the universe definitely won’t be as innocent. The Borg have been a dreaded enemy of all of Starfleet for a long time, and with the Queen’s return will surely come the full might of her collective. Could we possibly be looking at another battle like the one that took place in Star Trek: First Contact? However, it plays out, this return is one fans will be watching!
