More Star Trek shows are exiting Netflix

Back in March 2020, all of the Star Trek series were deemed the best long binges on Netflix with 695 episodes of all of the classic shows, including the Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise. New fans have discovered the series which has been a boost for Paramount. Things are beginning to change, though as Paramount +, which used to be CBS All Access, has made the Star Trek series available on its streaming service.

Right now, the new series like Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks are only available on Paramount, and the upcoming Strange New Worlds will only be available there as well. Star Trek: Prodigy will be available on Nickelodeon after debuting on Paramount. But beginning in December 2019, The Animated Series disappeared from Netflix, and that was only the start of the great exodus as more of the agreements expire.

Netflix is losing three more titles

On October 1st, The Original Series, Voyager, and Enterprise will all depart Netflix according to Whats-on-Netflix, leaving them only available for viewing at present on Paramount, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. Oddly, though, all of the Star Trek movies aren’t available on Paramount+. Right now, you can only watch the Next Generation movies and two of the Kelvin timeline movies on the streaming channel, with nine of them now streaming on AMC+, but CBR.com reports that it’s likely these contracts were assigned to AMC+ before Paramount+ launched. So it’s possible this is just a matter of waiting out the contracts before the movies will return to Paramount+.

There’s no denying that Star Trek is hot property right now so it makes sense that Paramount+ will eventually want to have all of the series and movies in one place. Viewers will then have to choose to subscribe to another streaming channel or stick with DVDs. In the meantime, if you’re currently bingeing The Original Series, Voyager, or Enterprise on Netflix, you only have a little over three weeks to finish.
