Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy has made a lasting impression

We’ve all heard the stories about how the actors behind our favorite characters on Star Trek have changed lives. Fans have become doctors, engineers, and more because of what they saw on their favorite series, but one fan took Star Trek: The Original Series’ Leonard Nimoy’s autograph on one of the star’s photos to heart. And that ended up shaping Reddit user /Jason Anarchy’s future career.

Jason shared the story of his meeting with Nimoy recently on Reddit and cross-posted it to Twitter as well, sharing an image of the autograph he’d received.

"One time I met Leonard Nimoy… from startrek"

Inspiration from Leonard Nimoy changed one fan’s life

When Nimoy signed the photograph for Jason, was he really telling the fan to become a joke writer? Maybe not, but it gave Jason the spark of an idea, one that shaped his future. Perhaps this fan didn’t even know what he wanted to do in life, but this short message from Mr. Spock was enough to set an idea into motion.

You can see the signed image on Jason’s Twitter page where he goes by @DrinkingQuest and describes himself as a game designer known for Drinking Quest, Your Friend is Sad, and other games.

Sometimes, all it takes to gain momentum is an idea, and whether or not Nimoy intended for his words to be a prediction of the future or he was simply replying to Jason’s question about his future, thinking it was a hilarious joke doesn’t matter. What does matter is that, with two words, the man who will always been known as Mr. Spock set one fan on the path to a career he has enjoyed for over ten years. Of course, Jason had to have the talent to design the games and write the jokes, but oftentimes, we still need that little push to make us take a step outside our comfort zones.
