Star Trek: Prodigy debuts just in time for Halloween.

Star Trek: Prodigy is the new show aimed at kids (but made with adults in mind) that will be debuting later this week. The show will follow a group of kids that escape a work camp and find their way onto a lost Federation ship. The ship, named the U.S.S. Protostar, comes with a major upgrade from past Starfleet vessels; a Captain Kathryne Janeway hologram. The hologram is an emergency command hologram and will serve as a mentor of sorts for the ship’s young crew.

As the Doctor in Star Trek: Voyager proved, a hologram Janeway isn’t just going to be a one-dimensional entity.

The show debuts this Thursday, Oct. 28 with a one-hour premiere. The first episode can be found exclusively for Paramount+ subscribers in the U.S.  A sneak peek of the show debuted during Sunday’s football broadcasts on CBS, and it showed Dal and Rok-Tahk exchanging their first understood words to one another.

And ya know what, it was actually kinda cute.

The show stars Kate Mulgrew returning to Star Trek as the hologram version of Kathryn Janeway, Rylee Alazaqui as Rok-Tahk, Brett Gray as Dal, Angius Imrie as Zero, Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog, Dee Bradley Baker as Murf, and 2021’s Army of the Dead breakout star Ella Parnell as Gwyn.

Several of the guest stars have been revealed, like John Noble of Lord of the Rings fame as the main villain, The Diviner, and Jimmi Simpson as the head goon, named Drednot. Rounding out some of the other known guest stars include Star Trek: Voyager star Robert Beltran, returning to reprise his role as Chakotay, and former Star Trek: Voyager guest star Jason Alexander, who’s playing a new character named Doctor Noum.

Former Next Generation guest star, William O. Campbell (formerly of the Rocketeer) will also reprise his former character for the series, returning as Thadiun Okona.
