Star Trek’s Wil Wheaton suffered a horrifying seizure earlier this year

Star Trek: The Next Generation star Wil Wheaton suffered a seizure.
Anne Wheaton, the wife of Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Wil Wheaton, has revealed in a very personal blog post, posted to her Twitter account, that her husband was rushed to the hospital in August. Wil ended up suffering a seizure, and by his wife’s account, had to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance while she followed behind in her car.
The blog post she uploaded onto her WordPress site talks about the events, how everything transpired, and the emotional and physical turmoil they both suffered from the medical emergency. Luckily for Wil, the seizure wasn’t due to a developing medical condition or anything life-altering. It was caused by an odd combination of a pinched nerve, migraine, and anti-depressant medication, causing some sort of overload on his system and sending him into a seizure.
By the sound of things, Wil is now doing well and seems to be back to normal, but as Anne’s post points out, the emotional turmoil she dealt with in the aftermath was its own battle to deal with. It’s an eye-opening blog post and really helps detail the emotional trauma that may be inflicted on those around someone who had to suffer through a medical emergency.
Luckily we’re only finding out about this months later, and on their own terms, instead of during the height of their personal turmoil. Here’s hoping that both Wil and Anne are doing much better these days.
Wil Wheaton’s career is iconic and legendary.
Star Trek: The Next Generation launched dozens of careers from writers, directors, and actors. Names like Patrick Stewart and Ronald D. Moore were solidified due to the show, but they weren’t the only ones. So many people benefited from the series, including Wil Wheaton.
Wheaton had already gotten work before, namely in the hit coming-of-age film Stand By Me. So when Wheaton landed on The Next Generation as Wesley Crusher, he rose to a level of popularity few have seen or will ever see. Due to his time on Star Trek, he would see his career stretch three decades with roles in Eureka, Toy Soldiers, The Big Bang Theory, The Guild, and even in-non acting, hosting roles, like on Wil Wheaton’s Table Top.
He’s one of the more personable and charming people in all of Star Trek and thankfully it sounds like Wheaton is ok these days and we’ll be blessed with more of his work in the near future.
