The fate of The Orville still hasn’t been decided

Back on October 14th, the Youtube channel, Popcast Unleashed, announced that the third season of The Orville would be its last because series series stars Adrianne Palicki and Scott Grimes had both confirmed the news in separate podcasts.

Palicki was on the Clear Eyes Full Hearts podcast when she said the show was coming out in 2022 and “it is our final season.” Scott Grimes said season three was probably going to be the final season, but there might be movies when he was on The Randy Disher Podcast.

Tom Costantino, Co-Producer on The Orville, had something different to say

When this “news” broke, fans were disheartened, especially after waiting so long for the third season of the series to arrive, but things looked a little brighter when Tom Costantino, who is the co-producer on the series took to his Twitter account to announce that season four was still to be determined. Whether or not the series gets renewed, he said, is based on audience appetite and the response to season three. He added that anything could happen.

While we don’t know why stars Palicki and Grimes think the third season is the final season, Costantino, being one of the producers, has to have knowledge that few other people have. He would certainly know if The Orville had been canceled. He told fans he was “relaying information,” and his followers expressed relief at the news, which is understandable.

Hulu Scripted Chief Jordan Helman shared his excitement about the series in an interview with Deadline earlier this year and said he believed that “fans of the show that are coming to us from Fox will be deeply excited and satiated.” So while we might be on pins and needles waiting to hear if we’re going to get a season 4, that information probably won’t be available for quite a while, considering the premiere date is still five months away.

The Seth MacFarlane-led series will premiere on Hulu on March 10, 2022.
