Wonderful Deep Space Nine

By: John C. Worsley

Original: “Wonderful Christmas Time” by Paul McCartney

What may be the bane of Paul McCartney’s career, Wonderful Christmas Time is as bad as they come. The song either tries to follow a dying trend of the late 1970s or tries to create one with its terrible electronic warble effect that permeates throughout the song. It’s the wost.

Unfortunately, this version of that song, Wonderful Deep Space Nine, has that same keyboard warble that makes the original so terrible. However, this time around McCartney’s not here to make us all hate the fact that he’s doing solo work. No, instead we have a Deep Space Nine mash-up that also includes the infamously bad Allamaraine mixed in. Somehow the awful McCartney song mixed in with the awful Allmararine nursery rhyme works.

"“Allamaraine, count to four, Allamaraine, then three more, Allamaraine, if you can see, Allamaraine, you’ll come with me…”"

It really helps drown out that awful background music. Though it’s not a great song regardless. McCartney should’ve stuck with Wings and their iconic hit “Love Take Me Down to the Streets“.
