Star Trek released a year-end video that focuses on a hopeful 2022

Star Trek released a new video on their official website to help fans get excited for a more hopeful and optimistic new year. The video features clips from every series in the franchise, from the original William Shatner-led Star Trek, all the way to the soon-to-debut Strange New Worlds series, which is a prequel to that very series of Trek.

Throughout the episode, you can see and hear clips from all throughout the franchise history, trying to paint a hopeful and optimistic future; something Strange New Worlds is hoping to recapture as the previous few series have become far darker and forboding.

There’s a lot of great episodes used in the video, both as footage and as audio but if you heard a quote you liked, and maybe want to see the episode it’s from; well, we can help with that.

The quotes Star Trek used and the episodes you can fan find them in

The first line of dialogue used is from Edith Keller’s famous “One day soon…” speech from the original series episode Edge of Forever.  Then we get the farewell between Lilly and Picard, who exchange “I envy you..’s” from the film First Contact, maybe the best line in the film filled with great lines.

Then we hear Ethan Peck’s Spock, delivering his “What we do now…” speech from the 11th episode of Discovery’s second season, Perpetual Infinity.

Then onto a classic Picard line, “…now is the most precious time” quote from The Next Generation episode, The Inner Light. That’s followed by Seven of Nine to Picard in his titular show’s fifth episode, Stardust City Rag, dropping her more recent “It’s not saving the galaxy…” line.

There’s also Jonathan Archer’s “We’re going to stumble…” quote from the Enterprise episode Shockwave Part II, in which he defends his ship and crew from the criticism of Soval in what may be his best moment as a Star Trek captain. We follow that up with another Picard quote, this time from his series’ episode Broken Pieces, where he talks about the “past being written…”, then we’re back to Peck’s Spock to hear the rest of his “What we do now…” speech.

We wrap up a video on great Trek quotes with William Shatner’s James T. Kirk, who’s “…final cruise…” Captain’s log from the Undiscovered Country film makes it in near the end of the video, helping in a way, to pass the baton onto the newer series.
