These are three things we hope Playmates does with the new toy line.

Whether you’re a kid, a kid at heart, or a serious Star Trek collector who has every Playmates action figure from the classic Star Trek line, many fans are getting hyped for the upcoming launch of more Trek toys. With the toyline expected to get a reveal of sorts on Monday, Jan. 24, we’re sitting here wondering what we’re getting.

Star Trek: Prodigy is rumored to be the show that brought the figures back, so it’s very likely that the line will be mostly Prodigy if not exclusively Prodigy. There’s a chance there could be more to the line, but that’s what we’ve grown to expect.

Yet, there are three things that Playmates has to do to make sure fans aren’t disappointed with the new line of toys.

Three things we want from the Playmates reveal

Classic design

If Playmates brings back the action figures but changes the size and design of the figures, fans will be disappointed. The hope many had was that this would continue the look and feel of the classic figures from the 90s. Many are expecting them to be more detailed in the face, but hopefully, they don’t change the size and look of the toyline.

Enterprise finally gets immortalized

Not getting the cast of Star Trek: Enterprise forever immortalized in 4.5” plastic action figures still stings. If you’re a collector, not having Jonathan Archer, Trip Tucker, T’Pol and the rest of the crew have to leave you wanting. This is a chance to make up for that faux pas.

Beyond Prodigy

The other thing that fans are probably wanting is more than just Prodigy toys announced. With Lower Decks, Picard, Discovery, and Strange New Worlds on the horizon, it’d be nice to see Saru, Anson Mount, Beckett Mariner and others from those shows get a figure.
