A new one-shot Star Trek comic featuring the Ferengi coming in April
By Chad Porto
Star Trek will have a new comic in April featuring the Ferengi.
Star Trek debuted a new comic line last year with the intended purpose of focusing on other characters and aliens in the Star Trek canon. These comics were supposed to highlight and expand what fans knew about these particular aliens. The series is supposed to be four, individual comics about various aliens.
The Klingons got the first go with their upcoming debut in February, and now the Ferengi are up next, with the Vulcans and Trill on deck. The Klingon story will look at Khaless, the legendary Klingon warrior that the entire empire seems to worship.
The new Ferengi book will look at the iconic Deep Space Nine family of Quark, Rom, Nog, and Rom and Quark’s mother, Ishka.
Star Trek: Ferengi to challenge Ferengi customs on Ferenginar
The customs of the Ferengi are odd to non-Star Trek fans. It’s a very male-dominated field, where most Ferengi attempt to swindle their way into fame, mostly through the accumulation of gold-pressed latinum. Think of them mostly as pirates crossed with a banker.
Or a Wallstreet broker. Either works.
Some of their customs also include how they treat their women, which in the eyes of the Federation is something that’s not all too popular and the new Star Trek comic about the Ferengi’s will look into the challenges of the customs on Ferenginar.
This isn’t new, as they explored this concept on the show itself to middling results. Now writer Christina Rice and artist Andy Price will team up to tell this story of one of Deep Space Nine’s best comedic relief.
The comic is set to come out in April, though no exact dates have been announced, and will be 52 pages long. The book will cost $7.99. The next two books in the one-shot spotlight series will be the Vulcans and Trill.
