Who knew Star Trek and Kesha would go well together?

I’ve written before about the creativeness of Star Trek fans. Beyond the art, cosplay, and other displays of talent, they have a way of coming up with unique ideas that surprisingly fit this franchise, even when it doesn’t seem like those things should work well together. Case in point, this music video created by MissSheenie on Youtube. Set to the song Tik Tok by Kesha, the video mixes the fun times (okay, not all of them are fun) on and off the Enterprise with the original crew of Star Trek: The Original Series, Captain Kirk, Spock, Dr. McCoy, Scotty, Uhura, Chekov, and Sulu, throws in a few androids and tribbles, and creates two and a half minutes of pure fun.

Mixing Star Trek and Kesha was a stroke of brilliance

With over three million views, 40,000 likes, and 2700+ comments, the video is a hit with Star Trek fans with some calling it “perfect,” “hilarious and brilliant,” and “my favorite.” One fans sums it up nicely when saying “Honestly if someone asked me to explain Star Trek to them Id send them this.” Not that this video would really explain Star Trek, but it would certainly give potential fans a look at what they can find on a series from the 1960s.

Some fans might wonder at the purpose of such videos, but it’s simply a way for creators to have fun with their favorite songs and series and give others a reason to laugh. And there’s certainly no harm in wanting to make people laugh. Kudos to MissSheenie for matching the lyrics to the video clips so perfectly (which isn’t easy to do considering how vastly different they are) and for creating a little bit of happiness for the fan community. Here’s to a few million more views!
