Star Trek: Picard is confirmed to be ending at the end of season three

With Patrick Stewart’s recent confirmation to SFX Magazine that Star Trek: Picard would be ending after the series’ third season, could a spin-off be in the works? As we recently reported, Raffi (portrayed by Michelle Hurd) and Seven of Nine (portrayed by Jeri Ryan) are starring in an audio drama with their characters serving as the main stars. That seems to be setting the course for more adventures without Admiral Jean-Luc Picard.

Even though we haven’t seen how Picard will come to a close potentially next year, it’s doubtful the series will bring any lasting harm to Raffi and Seven as they both had their own lives before Raffi reunited with Picard and Seven found her way onto the team. But Raffi’s life wasn’t so great before she started fighting with her friend again, and Seven faced a tragic loss shortly before she joined the fight. So bringing the pair together to be a space crime-fighting team could be on the horizon. And if not, why not?

Raffi and Seven of Nine are popular on Star Trek: Picard

Seven of Nine still had a lot of growing to do before Star Trek: Voyager ended, and though she’s made a lot of changes in the intervening years, there is still much to be learned for the ex-Borg drone. And with Raffi’s struggle with addiction and uneasy, almost non-existent relationship with her son, there is much material to be mined.

Star Trek has yet to release a two-person space adventure show, and this one could be what the producers have been waiting for. Bad guys in space wouldn’t stand a chance against these two fighters, and they would both get a chance at a healthy relationship and happiness while cleaning up the galaxy.
