Fans looking forward to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds got a great surprise today.

Star Trek fans are having a great 2022 so far. They got word that Discovery is in fact getting a fifth season, Prodigy is a hit, oodles of new content are debuting and the crown jewel of the year is the launch of the hotly anticipated spinoff, Strange New Worlds.

The show was originally developed out of Discovery, where we saw Captain Pike, Spock, and Pike’s Number One, Una, were part of the second season storyline. They made such an impact the Star Trek brass decided to spin them out into Strange New Worlds, a prequel series to the original Star Trek.

While we have a trailer for the series, as well as episodes of the trio in Discovery that fans can enjoy, we finally got some sweet promotional art hyping up the debuting series and it is breathtaking. Released on Twitter, fans got a great look at what’s in store for them.

In a nod to either the original series’ “Spectre of the Gun” or the Enterprise episode “North Star”, we see an alien cowboy character looking out to the horizon. To his right, a cityscape of sorts, and to his left the closest of two moons.

Dead center, however, is the U.S.S. Enterprise. The first of if the Constitution-class ships and at least the seventh ship to carry the name in Trek canon; dating all the way back to the HMS Enterprise and going all the way through to a time where warp-capable ships were finally being developed, with the Enterprise NX-01.

Despite there being oodles and oodles of ships to bear the name Enterprise, the NCC-1701, the ship in the above image, will always have a special place in fans’ hearts. So it’s great to see it front and center once again.

Drawing focus, like it’s the star it was always meant to be.
