How much do you know about Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s Bajor?

Bajor is a rich planet in Star Trek lore, and the Bajoran people have been a key point of the Trek universe since the later days of The Next Generation. The biggest addition to this during those days was Ro Laren, who was introduced in the fifth season episode entitled “Ensign Ro”.

The character was supposed to bring the Bajoran and Cardassian conflict to the screen, with Ro being obviously combative about the situation. It would eventually lead to her having ties to the resistance fighters known as the Maquis, and that, in turn, would see her spin-off into the soon-to-be-debuted series; Deep Space Nine.

The actress who played Ro Laren didn’t want to commit to such a project and instead the character Kira Nerys was created. While the Bajorans were introduced in The Next Generation, the first time we see Bajor was after the Cardassian forces withdrew during the events of Deep Space Nine.

So while the characters appear all over the place, the planet was debuted by DS9. A neat little fact. A fact so neat that it doesn’t even pop up in Certifiably Ingame’s video about Bajor.

Bajor is full of fun facts for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fans to explore

Fans of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and fans of Trek in general, should enjoy the above video. It’s about the provinces of Bajor but in exploring each province you also learn about the planet’s history, learn key details about the regions, and you get to see those glorious matte paintings that would bookend the trips to the planet.

It’s a neat little trip to a planet that is often overlooked in the grand scheme of things. Be sure to subscribe to Certifibaly Ingame’s channel for more Trek goodness.
