Star Trek’s William Shatner returned to TV during the Super Bowl.

At 90 years old, William Shatner is still as spry and active as ever. In the last 18 months, he released a new movie, went to space, and has been as active as ever on social media. Most 90-year-olds are still trying to figure out their satellite packages, but Shatner is the king of social media. So it’s not surprising that Planet Fitness tagged the Star Trek legend to do a Super Bowl spot.

Shatner did voice-over work for the commercial, which also featured Lindsay Lohan, Dennis Rodman, and Danny Trejo. In the commercial, we see Lohan changing her life habits to be more healthy, which included studying (and going on Jeopardy!), sleeping more and partying less, taking up new hobbies, and finally; working out at Planet Fitness.

It’s the last spot where we see Shatner working on his biceps. It’s a nice tongue-in-cheek commercial that played off of Lohan’s former party-girl lifestyle, as she evolved into a more mature woman.

Not William Shatner’s first Super Bowl ad

This isn’t William Shatner’s first Super Bowl ad, appearing in one alongside James Spader during the pair’s time on Boston Legal. The pair are “arguing” over who the best Super Bowl coach of all time is, but Spader seems nonplus about the whole thing and simply agrees with Shatner.

After a football gets away from Shatner and ends up causing an accident, Shatner’s character runs down, where Spader reveals that he does in fact know football.

Shatner also appeared in a few others, one with Leonard Nimoy, who was coming to replace Shatner as the voice of the Priceline commercials. It’s hard to know for sure how many he’s been in, as he’s very prolific with his commercial appearances, but it’s a safe bet that if Shatner is in a commercial in or around the Super Bowl, it’s probably worth checking out.
