This Star Trek spin-off series could bring back some of our favorite characters

The Star Trek franchise has been successful for the past fifty-years, using both the characters that we all know and love and creating new characters for us to fall in love with. With the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, we’ll be revisiting those from The Original Series and getting the opportunity to learn more about their backgrounds and their future, which wasn’t afforded to us in the 1960s.

In all the previous series, we got limited flashbacks of the captains’ pasts, and although we’ve gotten autobiographies of Captain Janeway, Captain Picard, and Captain Kirk that tells us a lot about their younger years, we know next to nothing about Captain Benjamin Sisko’s formative years, his time spent at Starfleet Academy, or even when he was first getting started. That’s why a spin-off series featuring a young Sisko is the next series that should happen.

Star Trek have been in the dark about Captain Sikso since Deep Space Nine ended.

When Deep Space Nine ended, Sisko had chosen to stay with the Prophets, but he told Kassidy that he would return one day. That was some type of closure to his character, although, not what fans really wanted. Now, though, is the perfect opportunity to bring Sisko back as a young lieutenant to let us take a deeper dive into his life.

Just as Strange New Worlds is going to show us Captain Pike’s life before the tragic accident that changes him forever, there is plenty of material to reveal Sisko’s history before he became the commander of Deep Space Nine. A bonus would be voiceovers with Avery Brooks much like Jim Parsons does for Young Sheldon.

If we’re going back to the past, then one of the best possible pasts to return to would be Captain Siskos. Whether it’s flashbacks to his youth in New Orleans, his life as a young father, or his first commission, Sisko has a rich history, and now is the perfect time to show it. Not only would Deep Space Nine fans love this look into his past, but new fans would find a reason to tune into the older series once they started learning about one of the Starfleet’s greatest captains.
