A Star Trek: Enterprise reboot isn’t in the works at present.

Fans of Star Trek: Enterprise have wanted the series to return for years, but they aren’t interested in a reboot that doesn’t involve the original characters. To us, no one could fill the shoes of the actors who embodied those roles for the four seasons. But were Enterprise to be rebooted or reimagined, we don’t know if the original actors would be open to returning. In that case, new actors would have to be cast, and Whatculture has a list of suggestions that would supposedly fit the bill.

Based on Star Trek’s history, the only series that has been rebooted has been The Original Series, and that was on the movie screen. So the chances of a reboot happening are existentially small. But I can certainly understand why sites like to put the idea out there. They’re  hoping, like we all are, that the powers that be will eventually see what we all see—that Enterprise deserves a second go-around.

Here’s the problem with a Star Trek: Enterprise cast reboot

For the most part, fans didn’t have a problem with the cast; it was the stories/episodes that were an issue. While some people might have disliked Jolene Blalock’s portrayal of T’Pol and others Scott Bakula’s take on Captain Jonathan Archer, the actors did their jobs well. So even if Star Trek were to sanction a return for the series, be it in the form of a reboot or spin-off, eliminating those actors who brought in the fans probably wouldn’t be the wisest choice of action.

The actors on Enterprise were what made the series come alive. They brought the stories (good or bad) to life. They injected enthusiasm, heart, and soul into these episodes, and starting over with a new cast wouldn’t be the same.

Some characters like Dr. Phlox (played by John Billingsley) and Trip Tucker (played by Connor Trinneer) filled the series with humor and charm. It would be difficult to catch that same spark with other actors. That’s not to say that other actors couldn’t give it a shot, but the question will always remain: would dedicated fans of Star Trek: Enterprise accept a new cast when the original cast wasn’t given the opportunity to finish the series?
