Star Trek: The Next Generation fans should keep an eye out for a new Geordi La Forge comic.

Star Trek: The Next Generation remains a brand that has a long-lasting fanbase that nearly 30 years later is still heavily invested in the brand. So much so that a sequel series, Star Trek: Picard, was created due to the longevity of the fandom’s interest in the series. Some characters like Data, Deanna Troi, and William Riker all returned but the show was lacking some series regulars; like Geordi La Forge.

La Forge and the actor who played him, LeVar Burton is among the most popular figures in all of Star Trek, and that hasn’t changed in recent years. In fact, it’s arguably more prolific than at any time during the original series run of The Next Generation. Comic company IDW knows this and is giving La Forge his own one-shot comic.

The comic will be called Star Trek: Mirror War – Captain La Forge and will be written by J. Holtham, illustrated by Carlos Rodriguez, and colored by DC Alonso.

This one-shot follows the 2021 series, “Star Trek: The Next Generation – The Mirror War”, which was written by brothers Scott and David Tipton, and illustrated by Carlo Nieto. It has a run of 13-issues and several one-shot spin-offs like the one involving La Forge.

One of the one-shots (a single-story comic) involving Data came at the end of December.

The comic is already for sale, having launched on March 2, and you can pick it up in stores or online.

Star Trek: The Next Generation missed out on using the Mirror Universe

The whole point of this comic series was to right a wrong that was never addressed during the run of The Next Generation, the use of the Mirror Universe. Of the five core series before the Discovery era, only two shows, The Next Generation and Voyager didn’t explore the Mirror Universe.

Voyager did have their own version of alternate Voyagers and frequent new timelines, so they really didn’t need that universe. Though one would think that the series will eventually get their own Mirror Universe comic at some point.
