Chad Coleman seems to think The Orville may not get another season

The Orville is gearing up for a massive third season, set to debut on Hulu this summer. Yet, the future of the show has long been in the air since Fox moved on from them after their second season. The series has been rumored to have just a one-season deal with Hulu, and it’s very possible the show is canceled after this season. Chad Coleman, who plays the Klyden, the Moclan husband of Bortus, seems to feel that a fourth season is anything but guaranteed.

When speaking to the Express, the former Walking Dead standout gave fans a reason to be pessimistic about its future.

"It’s the best. Honestly. It feels like if we never get the chance to do this again, we better do every damn thing we can."

That’s a telling comment, one that clearly shows that the show is anything but a lock. Making sure you go all out just in case? That may mean the show’s future has already been determined or could be determined by the fourth season.

The Orville has faced rumors like this before but hope remains

There were rumors the show was over while it was filming season three, due to the set they were filming on being sold and allegedly taken apart. The show has since done re-shoots, so that isn’t exactly a strong rumor any longer but to say that the Orville isn’t guaranteed a fourth season I think is fair.

It’s going to a streaming service that needs views, and if The Orville can’t be a hit for them, it won’t be surprising to find out that season three is the last in the series.

That said, the fan support for the show has been strong, at least among Star Trek fans. Whether fans of Nu Trek or not, it seems just about all Trek fans are on board with The Orville.

So there’s hope. And should this be the last season, then I’m sure it’ll be an epic one.
