Anson Mount approves of his new show, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Don’t let the headline throw you, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds being endorsed by its own crew was never a guarantee. Not in the post-Star Wars: The Last Jedi world that we live in now. Sure, Anson Mount seems like a company guy and him vouching for his own show seems like a lock. Yet, Mark Hamil outright decried The Last Jedi, saying that it wasn’t the same Luke Skywalker he knew.

Heck, Robert Pattinson of The Batman and formerly of Twilight, used to dunk on Twilight in interviews all the time. So Mount telling people he liked his new show was never a guarantee. Expected, sure, but not guranteed.

Mount did an Instagram Live event with Branan Edgens recently and revealed that he’s seen the first three episodes with his wife and he was quite impressed with what he saw.

"I don’t like to see it until it’s all put together and [my wife and I] have seen the first three so far. And I’m really happy with it. Very, very happy with it. We’re going to watch episode four tonight, and I have been hearing amazing things. The network, fellow directors, everybody has been saying episode four is really special. So, I’m looking forward to seeing that."

Star Trek: Lower Deck star, Jerry O’Connell, who’s married to Star Trek: Strange New World’s Rebecca Romijn, has also signed off on the new show and of course his wife; who’s playing Number One.

Not the most unbiased form of support but a positive sign nonetheless

The star of the show and the husband of the second lead aren’t exactly unbiased in their opinions. Why would they be, or should they be? No, they’re not unbiased at all but let’s not pretend that their endorsement isn’t something.

They could have left the show alone and not mentioned any of it, or spoke about it in a more neutral tone but they didn’t, they praised the show.

The quality of the show will obviously be something we all end up deciding about on our own at some point but to hear some positive reviews for the show, a show that has huge expectations from Paramount and fans alike, should at least get some people feeling good.
