Star Trek: The Original Series actor isn’t done with the franchise.

Clint Howard is a character actor known for two things; being in nearly everything that has ever been shot since the late 1960s, and being the brother of famed director and acting legend Ron Howard. For Star Trek fans, you no doubt recognize him as the alien hellraiser Balok.

Clint was only about seven years old when he shot the “The Corbomite Maneuver”, the episode of Trek where he made his debut. It’s one of the most profound roles of his career. A career that saw him act in all sorts of films like Apollo 13, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, and Solo: A Star Wars Story.

For Howard, he’s not done with Star Trek. Not by a long shot. According to Heavy., Howard is always open to more Trek, saying;

"Oh, sure. I’m an actor and I love gainful employment. Virtually every job offer gets a legitimate consideration from me, but the fact that it’s ‘Star Trek’ is a ‘Yes’ at the drop of a hat. How many people have been on shows (55) years ago and are still being asked to be in incarnations of the same franchise?"

Clint Howard is a recurring guest star of Star Trek

Howard’s next role in Star Trek won’t be his first since the 1960s. In fact, Howard is pretty recent in the world of Trek, having appeared in The Star Trek: Discovery episode “Will You Take My Hand?” in 2018. He played “Creepy Orion”.

Prior to that he had roles on Star Trek’s Deep Space Nine and Enterprise, where he appeared in DS9’s “Past Tense, Part II” as Grady, and the Enterprise episode “Acquisition” as Muk. He’s one of the few actors who can say he appeared in Trek in four different decades, and that’s not an easy feat to pull off.

Howard returning be it as a voice actor on one of the animated series, or once again in live-action, would be a treat. Especially if they find a way to bring him back as Balok.
