There’s a new Star Trek video game coming called Star Trek: Resurgence.

Star Trek: Resurgence is a game by the same minds that brought you Telltale’s big brand of games from the late 2000s, and early 2010s. Games like The Wolf Among Us, Telltale’s Batman, and of course the one that started it all, The Walking Dead.

Those games were literally Choose Your Own Adventure books turned into a video game form. They made minor details matter the most and shocking moments happened nearly every few minutes. You not only got sucked into the story but the characters as well, causing many fans to play and re-play the same sections over again, trying so hard to make sure their favorite (or least favorite) survived (or died).

The new Star Trek: Resurgence game is hoping to capture that same magic of prior games by Telltale, now developed by Dramatic Labs and published by Epic Games. It’s not just the games of yesteryear they’re trying to tackle but the classic Star Trek formula itself.

They may have done just that.

Star Trek: Resurgence is getting the perfect compliments for a Star Trek property

One reviewer, Ian Boudreau, commented that this new game is just like an episode of Star Trek. As he writes for PCGamesN;

"The demo ends as we head off on the mission, and I’m hooked in – it’s like I’ve just seen the opening segment of a new episode, up to the first cut to commercial. I’m left with the feeling of wanting to run to the kitchen to grab refreshments before hustling back to the sofa to settle in for the rest of the adventure.…While it feels like an episode of Trek, the game will launch as a single, long story that you’ll be able to play through in full on release day…."

That’s not all, as PC Gamer’s Wes Fenlon  called the “…the first Trek anything to capture the spirit of the ’90s shows in a long, long time.”

CNet’s Alessandro Fillari called the game an “Intriguing Blend of Classic Trek and Modern Games Storytelling.”

While Inverses’ Jen Glennon called it “…the franchise’s first truly great video game.”

If you’re a fan of Star Trek, Star Trek video games, or just video games in general, it seems like Star Trek: Resurgence is going to be a game worth trying out for yourself.
