“To the Journey” does not have a set release date yet, but it is expected in 2022.

Star Trek: Voyager’s documentary, “To the Journey,” is still underway after having raised $1.2 million in a crowdfunding campaign in 2021. Because so much more money was raised than was expected, the producers had a little more budget to work with so fans are expecting great things out of this documentary. And if the sneak peek that was provided via Trekmovie is anything to go by, we have a lot to look forward to.

The teaser clip is over six minutes long and includes brief conversations with the cast, including Robert McNeill Duncan, Kate Mulgrew, Garrett Wang, Ethan Phillips, Tim Russ, Robert Beltran, and Robert Picardo. Each cast member provides a little something extra that we probably wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else. Call them behind-the-scenes moments or tidbits of information, but it’s interesting to hear what went on while the cameras were rolling.

Kate Mulgrew discusses when she took the helm of Voyager in “To the Journey”

Captain Kathryn Janeway was a force to be reckoned with as the leader of the crew of Voyager, and from the brief moments of discussion we hear from the actress who portrayed her, Kate Mulgrew, it’s crystal clear where she got her backbone.

Mulgrew talks about taking the bridge for the first time and having all the brass surrounding the lip of the stage with arms folded, watching her, and they continued to do that throughout the entirety of the first season. Mulgrew was determined to make the show her own, and she didn’t back down from the challenge. It didn’t take long for everyone to realize that Voyager had its captain.

This quick view of the documentary is only going to make you want more as it did me, for it’s only a hint of things to come. But what a hint!
