Star Trek: Picard will wrap up its run after its third season.

Fans of Star Trek: Picard already know that, after finishing its second season, the series will conclude next year. We don’t as yet know how many episodes we’ll have to say goodbye to Admiral Picard and his crew, but StarTrek.com has just revealed we’ll also be able to say goodbye to members of Captain Picard’s crew from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Next season,  LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis and Brent Spiner will join Patrick Stewart in the final season of Picard. Unfortunately, Wil Wheaton isn’t included in the list so we probably won’t get to see Wesley Crusher once more, and there’s no mention of whether Brent Spiner will recreate his role of Lt. Commander Data again or if he will return as another Soong.

This is a gift to The Next Generation viewers from Star Trek: Picard

Picard showrunner and executive producer Terry Matalas remembers watching The Next Generation with his father almost 34 years ago and admits the show ignited his love for science fiction.

"“So, it’s most fitting that the story of Jean-Luc Picard ends honoring the beginning, with his dearest and most loyal friends from the U.S.S. Enterprise. It would be an understatement to say that giving these characters a proper send-off is an honor. The entire Star Trek: Picard team and I can’t wait for fans to experience this final, high-stakes, starship-bound adventure in season three!”"

This will likely be the last time we get to see all of these characters with Picard again, and while there’s no indication The Next Generation crew will share scenes together, it would be great to see them altogether as though they were aboard the Enterprise back in 1994 when the credits rolled on the final scene of the series. Though this won’t be an adventure that only brings along the TNG crew, we’re certainly hoping for interaction between the lifelong friends.

However Picard reunites the TNG crew in the third and final season of the series, fans will appreciate the effort it takes to get all the familiar faces back with their captain even though he is now an admiral.
