Wil Wheaton feels bad for William Shatner.

Recently, The New York Post shared an excerpt from Wil Wheaton’s upcoming book, Still Just a Geek: An Annotated Memoir that referenced a time when Wheaton was treated badly by William Shatner during the former’s visit to the Star Trek: V: The Final Frontier set.  Unsurprisingly, Shatner responded on his busy Twitter page when the issue was brought to his attention, saying he had no recollection of the event.

A fan on Wheaton’s Facebook’s page asked if the actor was going to respond to Shatner’s comment that Wheaton was only try to drum up publicity for his newest book. Wheaton responded to his fan directly in the comments on his page, saying that feels bad for Bill and that he and Bill had dealt with “this” years ago, and that it hadn’t been an issue between the two of them.

"You know, I honestly feel bad for Bill. He and I dealt with this years ago, and it hasn’t been an issue between us. Someone decided to write a real click-baity article that made Bill seem petty, and that just doesn’t sit right with me. I do appreciate the free publicity, of course, but I don’t appreciate the effort to drum up a fake feud or controversy for the sake of clicks."

Wheaton included the encounter in this newest book obviously because it is a memoir, but neither he nor Shatner have continued to discuss it. Clearly, it’s not a situation that has kept either actor from moving on with their lives.

Wheaton is a stand-up guy for setting things straight with his fans and letting them know that there are no hard feelings between him and Shatner. Perhaps this will now be the end of the “feud” that never really was.
