Star Trek has been successful for Paramount+.

Whether or not you like the current slate of Star Trek series airing on Paramount+, there’s no denying they have been successful for the streaming channel. So there’s no surprise why Paramount+ would be interested in bringing more Star Trek adventures to the small screen or even to other types of mediums.

At the Strange New Worlds premiere event, Alex Kurtzman told Trekmovie that he couldn’t say when the next series would be releasing, but there were “several things in the pipeline now.”  On top of that Kurtzman said Paramount was committed to as many shows as made sense and that the production company hasn’t put an exact number on the shows it would be willing to air. It just wants great shows.

"“I think Paramount Plus is committed to having as many shows as make sense. I don’t think they put a number to it. They haven’t said, “Let’s do three” or “Let’s do ten.” They’ve just said, “Let’s do great shows.” So as many as we can give them that they’re excited about, I think that’s what we’ll get away with.”"

And Kurtzman wasn’t just talking about upcoming Star Trek television

When asked if he was working on more shows than just Section 31 and Starfleet Academy, Kurtzman said that other types of storytelling besides television are being discussed at present. When pressed for clarification, he added said other mediums could mean games, podcasts, and possibly even dramatic podcasts and added that there might be some interesting announcements coming up soon.

Again, no one should be surprised that the franchise shows no signs of slowing down. Each series has managed to find its own fair share of fans and faithful viewers. So there’s simply no reason to stop what works.

Next. Alex Kurtzman is considering crossovers of the Star Trek series. dark
