Jonathan Frakes was supposed to be in a scene in season two of Star Trek: PIcard.

Season two of Star Trek: Picard just wrapped on May 5th, and, other than Brent Spiner and Patrick Stewart, the only characters that appeared from Star Trek: The Next Generation were John de Lancie and Whoopi Goldberg. Stewart and de Lancie shared some truly unique scenes, ones we’d certainly never expected to see between Q and Picard as did Picard and Spiner’s new Dr. Soong and Picard and Guinan. But there was one scene missing, at least, according to what Jonathan Frakes told Cinema Blend back in January of this year.

During the interview, Frakes discussed one scene in particular that was supposed to be happening in the second season, a scene that had fans really excited, as it would have included Frakes, Spiner, and de Lancie altogether. But, as we all know now, that scene didn’t come to pass.

"“I have a scene with he [John de Lancie] and Soong, who Brent [Spiner] plays on Picard. And it’s one of my favorite scenes of the season.”"

Was the scene with Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, and John de Lancie cut?

It’s always a possibility that scenes have to be cut for time or for whatever reason the director/producers require. But if there was a scene that involved the three The Next Generation actors, it’s almost unimaginable to think that it was the chosen one to be deleted, especially considering this was John de Lancie’s last time appearing as Q (unless he makes a miraculous recovery for another Star Trek series).

If a scene did exist with all three of those actors, and for whatever reason it was cut from final production, we might be able to see it when the Blu-Ray/DVD is released. For those of us who no longer buy such media, we’ll have to rely on the kindness of other Trekkies who will eventually upload it to Youtube. Still, it’s disappointing for the scene to not be a part of the season as Frakes was clearly excited about it…as were we.
