Star Trek: Strange New Worlds airs on Thursday on Paramount+.

By now, anyone who is remotely interested in Star Trek knows that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the latest in the franchise’s line of new shows, which debuted on May 5th, has become one of the highest-ranked shows on Paramount+. But that’s not all. According to The Wrap’s May 18th article [behind a paywall],  Strange New Worlds became the top new series in the U.S. “with 35.1 times the average series demand, according to Parrot Analytics‘ data, which takes into account consumer research, streaming, downloads and social media, among other consumer engagement.” When The Wrap tweeted the news, series star Anson Mount took to Twitter to share a perfect response.

Anson Mount could have taken credit (along with the cast) for the success of the series.

Instead, like the warmhearted, understanding captain he plays on the series, Mount said that sometimes the cast receives too much praise. He then commended the crew working behind the scenes of Strange New Worlds as well as the writers who tell them what to say. By giving praise to those who aren’t in front of the camera, Mount solidifies fans’ opinions of him as a “class act.”

Seriously, though, it’s no surprise that Strange New Worlds is on top as it has been earning rave reviews and hitting the nostalgic button for Trekkies who have been with the franchise from the beginning. This is the series that has brought Trek back to space…the final frontier. They really are making voyages aboard the Enterprise on a mission to seek out new life and new civilizations. And they’re boldly going where no one has gone before. Let’s hope the series maintains this course and draws in new Star Trek fans. The greater the demand for more Trek series, the better our chances for continued journeys into the galaxy.
