Star Trek 4 has been a nightmare of production issues but Karl Urban says everyone wants to come back.

When Star Trek 4 was first announced, most of the cast hadn’t signed on but were interested in doing the film. So when the film was formally announced and most of the cast hadn’t signed on to return, many were perplexed about what was going on with the film. Then Chris Pine, the lone player who was informally involved with the project started talking about how the film still didn’t have a script yet. This got many confused about what was going on with the film.

It seemed odd to announce a movie officially when you didn’t have a cast or a script for the project. This led many to wonder if the film would even happen, especially with Karl Urban not being able to commit to filming this year due to obligations he has with Amazon’s The Boys.

Yet, Urban wants to put any uncertainty to rest, that despite the lack of a script and no word on when filming will start, the cast does want to return, telling ComicBook.com

"All I know is they are developing it, they’re writing a script, and I know one hundred percent that we all want to come back and do it."

This joins Pine and Zachary Quinto’s recent interviews expressing an interest in doing the film.

Since Pine, Quinto, and Urban were the three names most unsure about doing future films this is huge.

The cast wasn’t always on board for Star Trek 4

Pine has infamously said he was done with the franchise but hoped that the franchise would continue on even if he wasn’t involved. Quinto was rumored to be done with the franchise after the third film, Beyond, but there was never anything formally announced.

Of course, Urban has always wanted to do the project but was unsure about scheduling how things would go. The rest of the cast have all said their share, mostly about being open to doing more films if there were opportunities.

So it looks like Star Trek 4 will be willed into existence, one way or another.
