Not much has been said about a Star Trek series about Khan.

We do know that a Star Trek series that would be about the villain Khan Noonien-Singh has been discussed, but we don’t know all of the details or where things stand. We don’t even know if the series is under serious consideration. Honestly, who would play Khan anyway? Ricardo Montalban made that role his, and he would be a hard act to follow. Still, The Popcast believes all signs point to a show with the augmented villain, and a video posted to its Youtube channel shares all the reasons why.

The self proclaimed “Pop Culture Historians” that host The Popcast made some good arguments for believing Khan is on the horizon, but one has to consider if there is enough interest in a show that follows such a menacing villain with no redeeming qualities. Perhaps that would be the intention of the show, though, to show Khan’s softer side with his wife. But I somehow doubt that.

A Star Trek Khan series doesn’t interest many fans.

Despite what is revealed in the video, the consensus of the fans in the comments is that they hae no interest in seeing a Khan series. And certainly, who can blame them? While some movies have pulled off stories all about the villains, would fans really want to follow Khan’s story after he was kicked off the Enterprise on Star Trek: The Original Series?

As I mentioned above, he had no redeeming qualities, no matter how much he loved his wife. He was a meglomaniac who was only interested in controlling the world and eliminating Admiral Kirk. And if Khan is to carry an entire series, he would have to be a character that draws fans’ interest and be someone we could root for. For me, he drew interest on the screen the brief moments I saw him, but an entire show written about his character’s exploits would be about as interesting as watching grass grow.

What do you think? Are you interested in a Khan series?
