Star Trek: Picard will reunite all Star Trek: The Next Generation cast members.

Since the annoucement was made that Star Trek: Picard is bringing back most of the cast members of Star Trek: Picard for season three, fans have been wondering how things were going to work. Would Admiral Picard interact with them one on one? Or would there be scenes with two characters and Picard, like with Riker and Troi in the season one episode, “Nepenthe?”

Previous Picard seasons have had all of the main cast together many times as did The Next Generation, but there was a question about how this would work with the entire cast of Picard still involved. Now that the numbers of Picard returning actors have dwindled to two, besides Patrick Stewart, possibly three, it seems more doable to have a bonafide reunion with the crew from the Enterprise. And that’s exactly what is going to happen.

Star Trek: Picared EP confirms the crew will reunite…literally.

On Twitter, one fan asked Terry Matalas, executive producer of Picard, if there would be at least one scene with all seven TNG cast members together. Matalas’ response was a postive gif.

In an interview with EW.com [via Trekmovie], Patrick Stewart said that this wasn’t just a reassembling of the cast nor was it just a reunion. Every member of the cast has a function, but that was all he was allowed to say. He did add that it was all very exciting.

"“We will meet them, but it’s not a reassembling at all. It’s not just a reunion. Everybody has a function, and that’s really all I’m allowed to say, because what’s coming up in season 3 I think is very exciting. And, of course, a lot of it will involve the way that the characters we’ve known for so long have evolved.”"

While it’s not certain, it sure sounds like this is going to be a season similar to one from The Next Generation. Picard did return to Starfleet so, unless he has retired again, he would be in command of the crew yet again for the next adventure. With Matalas saying the season will involve the way the characters have evolved, it may not be a full “aboard the ship” adventure, though as some of the crew may have retired from Starfleet or gone on to different careers. Whatever happens, let’s just hope the results live up to the hype.
