Star Trek: Lower Decks star Jack Quaid would make for a great James Kirk.

This might be my bit of fanboying but I’m a big fan of Jack Quaid. If you’ve seen him in The Boys, you know how tremendous he is as an actor. He got picked up to play Brad Boimler in Star Trek: Lower Decks and fans really like his character and his performance. Yet, the idea of him playing James Kirk is an intriguing one.

ScreenRant is back with another fantasy casting and this one is even worse than the Voyager one. They have Disney’s Booboo Stewart playing Spock, Paul Bettany playing Scotty, actress Jodie Comer playing Pavel Chekov, and comedian Alia Shawkat as Janice Rand.

Not all are bad, like Lupita Nyong’o as Uhura? Yes, please. Yet, Nyong’o isn’t even the best fantasy pitch in this article, Quaid as Kirk is, and that’s saying something, as Nyong’o is an extremely gifted actress. All you have to do is see her in Little Monsters and you’ll know what I mean. Charming for days.

Yet, Quaid really could capture the essence of Kir.

Jack Quaid could play a great, young, James Kirk

Jack Quaid is acting royalty. His father is Dennis Quad, his mother is Meg Ryan, and his uncle is Randy Quad.

…Two out of three ain’t bad, kid.

So to say that Quaid has the acting chops to play Kirk is already obvious. Not because talent is passed down through genetics but because he clearly has the same drive and desire to be a better actor after each project just like his parents.

Quaid can nail the fun-loving side of Kirk, while also capturing his more gruff bravado. We know this because his character on the Boys is pretty much a young James Kirk. Granted, not note for note, but who the character is becoming, a risk-taker who has a sense of right and wrong that is unwavering is exactly who Kirk is.

If Star Trek has to reboot the character for the third time in 14 years, I would like to submit Quaid to the council for consideration.
