Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is off to a great start with season one.

No one could have predicted how well Star Trek: Strange New Worlds would do in its premiere season. Needless to say, the series has exceeded all expectations and continues to rise to the level of top of the Star Trek franchise. Each week, the game is being upped, with the writers and producers providing more information about the characters and giving viewers more backstory details on some of the legacy characters. We certainly can’t expect better than this, but, according to Christina Chong, who portrays Lt. La’an Noonien Singh on the series, season two is going to up the stakes a little more.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Chong couldn’t give much away about the second season, but what she said should give every Trekkie a reason to look forward to next year.

"“The most obvious thing for me to say is that if you enjoy Season 1 and you think Season 1 went all the way, Season 2 takes it to a whole other level in a way that you won’t believe. It’s gonna shock a lot of people, I think.”"

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will, most likely, bring back other legacy characters.

Alex Kurtzman, the executive producer in charge of Star Trek, had a conversation with Wil Wheaton on The Ready Room [via Trekmovie], and his revelation may tie in to the “other level” Chong referred to.

"“I guess the best tease that I could give you is that there are obviously characters who exist on TOS who are not yet on the show. So given that there’s a kind of five-year window before Kirk would have taken over the Enterprise–or seven, I have lost track–others may show up.”"

Showrunner and co-creator of the series Akiva Goldsman already hinted that Roger Korby, the former fiance of Nurse Christine Chapel (played by Jess Bush) may appear on the show after a Trekkie on Twitter mentioned there might be some unhappiness that Korby hasn’t been mentioned. Goldsman’s response was “Stand by,” which, of course, doesn’t guarantee the character will show up. It simply could mean Korby will be mentioned on the series. Whatever is going to happen in season two, it certainly sounds like it’s something to look forward to.
