Simon Pegg stars as Montgomery Scott in the Kelvin Timeline Star Trek movies.

Like the other members of the J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek cast, Simon Pegg is sure another Star Trek movie is happening even though there’s no script in place yet. At a recent appearance at FedCon [via Trekmovie] Pegg echoed what Karl Urban said in that it’s a matter of timing, that everyone has to find a moment when they can all be together. He added that he would love to get back together to work with “those guys.”

But the upcoming still scriptless movie isn’t all Simon Pegg that has his interest. When asked about Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek movie that never got off the ground, Pegg said he thought it was really fun and would be amazing to do it. The movie, which seemed to be inspired by the season two episode of Star Trek: The Original Series “A Piece of the Action,”  would have taken the Enterprise crew to a planet that had a 1920s ganster culture like Earth. But the fourth movie was put on pause because of Star Trek Beyond’s lackluster showing at the box office.

Simon Pegg thinks a lot of people would love to see Quentin Tarantino’s movie.

While Tarantino’s script was still in play, Pegg had people asking if the movie would include the swearing that the director is known for in his movies. Pegg assured them that it wouldn’t be like that but was corrected by Quentin who said “No, that’s exactly what it’s going to be like.”

Pegg went on to describe the film script as “insane” while adding that he thought it was a film a lot of people would love to see. In his opinion, Tarantino was the only person who could have directed the movie, but Pegg doesn’t think it’s going to get made. He believes it’ll be one of those “amazing lost scripts that people will try and get hold of.” To some Star Trek fans, that’s a good thing. While others were looking forward to a return to the past, some saw it as drifting too far away from what Star Trek is and were concerned there would be too much focus on the action. I guess now we’ll never know.
