Kate Mulgrew will return in Star Trek: Prodigy return later this year.

Star Trek: Prodigy, though only in its first season, could only be called successful. The animated series brought juvenile aliens together aboard a derelict spaceship, the Protostar, and those characters have been nothing short of entertaining. Add Kate Mulgrew, who plays hologram Captain Janeway and Admiral Janeway, to the mix, and there was already a guaranteed recipe for success. Now, that success might be heading in a different direction.

Earlier this month, Kate Mulgrew was asked about the possibility of Janeway returning in a live-action role, and the actress  voiced curiosity about what would happen if her character were to come back. It’s something fans want to know, too. But in a recent conversation with SFX Magazine [via Trekmovie], Mulgrew dropped another hint that may mean she isn’t the only Prodigy star that’s being eyed for live-action.

"Interviewer: “Is there any chance we’ll see any of the characters in live action Star Trek in the future?Mulgrew: I think there’s a likelihood, actually…”"

Kate Mulgrew may have friends joining her if a crossover happens.

Alex Kurtzman recently sat down with Wil Wheaton, host of The Ready Room, [via Trekmovie] to discuss Star Trek, and the subject of universe crossovers came up. Kurzman confirmed that there would be crossovers, but he didn’t clarify which series would be involved.

That could be what is being planned for Mulgrew’s character, although, with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds set in the 23rd century and Star Trek: Discovery set in the 32nd century, some time travel might be involved…unless Kurtzman and his team are planning something in the future with the release of the next Star Trek series.

That would actually make more sense, especially when it comes to including the characters from Prodigy in a live action series.  A new project could be set in the 24th century which is the same timeline as Prodigy. Although we don’t have anymore information than Mulgrew’s tease, it’s enough to have us looking forward to what Star Trek will bring us next. And there’s one thing for sure. We’d all love to see Admiral Janeway in person again.

Next. Kate Mulgrew was hesitant about playing Captain Janeway again. dark
