If Akiva Goldsman gets his way Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will end where The Original Series Started.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been a hit since it premiered and now that seaosn one is in the books one of the things on the lips of everyone, exec, actor and fan alike, is “what’s next?” It’s a question that many fans have asked and very few people have had an answer to.
With the vaguness of what season two has to offer, fans are left to just wait and ponder the extended future of the series. How many seasons will it get? How many total episodes will there be? And maybe most importantly; how will it all end?
Well we don’t know, we won’t even try to guess but if you were to exect series co-creator Akiva Goldsman, he knows exactly where he’d like to see the series lead up to.
Speaking to Deadline, Goldsman hopes that Strange New Worlds will end quite literally where it’s sequel series and series preginator The Oringal Series started.
"I would love for this thing to run right into TOS…. So, ultimately, we should really be able to drive to “Where No Man Has Gone Before."
That would be a heck of a visual. Following James Kirk as he disembarks from the turbolift to see a CGI-rendered version of the original crew at their posts as they disembark for their five year mission.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is mostly for everyone, but really for long-time fans
Goldsman also spoke about Strange New Worlds, and how it’s not just for everyone but specifically for Star Trek fans. He makes note that the show can be enjoyed by anyone, and it’s very accesiable for new fans but if you’re an older fan, you’ll truly appreciate the show.
"We want you to like it for sure even if you know nothing, but if you know a bunch, then we want you to love it. The more you know, the more we want you to love it… If you don’t [know as much], it should still be cool because it’s talking about contemporary things."
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds capped off a successful 2022 for the brand, arguably its best since the 2009 Star Trek film launched, and with that hope around the franchise has been at it’s highest in some time.
