Do you want another Star Trek Podcast? No? Too bad!

Star Trek is everywhere these days. Not just on Paramount+ but in comics, video games, on television, and yes, even on your preferred podcast streaming service. While there are many Trek podcasts, the three that we most hear about are The 7th Rule Podcast, The Delta Flyer’s Podcast, and the Shuttlepod Show.

The 7th Rule was started by Deep Space Nine alumnus Cirroc Lofton and his good friend, and late pod-cast partner Aron Eisenberg. Lofton played Jake Sisko on DS9, while Eisenberg played Nog.

The Delta Flyer podcast is hosted by Voyager alumni and good friends Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill. Wang played Harry Kim in the series, while McNeill played Tom Paris. Best friends on the show and off. Are you starting to see a pattern?

Lastly, the Shuttlepod Show is hosted by, you guessed it, Connor Trinneer and Dominic Keating. The real-life good friends also played best pals on Enterprise, as Trinneer played Charles “Trip” Tucker III, and Keating played Malcolm Reed.

You’d think the space is filled with Podcasts, but nope.

“To Boldy Ask…” will feature Jonathan Frakes for its first episode

A brand-new video podcast is going to be hosted by Star Trek journalist Ian Spelling, and it will be entitled “To Boldly Ask…”, and it’s very first episode will premier on July 23, 2022, with Jonathan Frakes as its guest.

Despite Heavy describing the show as a podcast that will “go where no podcast has gone before”, it very much feels and seems just like the other glut of podcasts out there. The podcast will feature questions that will try to “new light on the characters, production, actors, writers, and behind-the-scenes secrets often overlooked.”

The idea of asking stars and crew members new questions that have never been asked may seem like a novel idea but it’s important to point out that there’s only so much one can find out about a property; especially one that’s almost 60 years old that has a glut of behind the scenes materials about it already.

Despite the podcast’s host writing for Heavy.com, the show is not part of Heavy and the outlet has no involvement in the podcast. If you want to check out the new podcast you can do so by clicking here.
