Star Trek: Lower Decks is back for a third season and its trailer is now out.

The fans of Star Trek are having a busy day today. We got the first look at Star Trek: Picard’s cast in all of their glory, and now we have a huge trailer with a load of impressive callbacks for fans who are into that sort of thing.

The trailer highlights the crew’s desire to save their captain and by the looks of the trailer, they do just that, but not without her first incurring some serious issues she’ll have to overcome and heal from.

Not only will the storyline that finished season two play out in season three, but the series is also leaning heavily in retro Trek, finishing with a huge return to Deep Space Nine that was played mostly for laughs.

We’ll go further into all the easter eggs and teases in this trailer at a later date.

Star Trek: Lower Decks thrives on great posters

The show is certainly something for someone, but I don’t think I’m that person. The Ricky and Morty-style animation and humor may have been more endearing nine years ago when the show first aired but now it feels overhyped and overplayed.

That’s the biggest issue for m with Lower Decks, is that they rely too much on gags, cameos, and another show’s entire style. I’m no fan.

That said, what I am a fan of, are their brilliant character posters.

They’re mostly homages to past Star Trek posters and properties, yes, but they have a certain charm that makes even me smile when I see them. The latest posters see the four main characters brilliantly highlighting their respective personalities, amid a differing array of colors.

It’s cool to see them as differing constellations and even cooler to see the minor details like the different ships that occupy each character. A+ work on these.
