Star Trek: the original Series inspires debate even to this day.

Star Trek has a long and impressive history that spans decades. Nearly 60 years of series, movies, and more have been created by hundreds of talented individuals. Yet, with each new iteration comes debate. What show was better, which film was better, what books were the best; all topics that are continuously discussed.

One of the other big debates has routinely been which episodes from which shows are the best. We like to take a look at these lists as they come, as they help paint a picture of what the fanbase generally gravitates towards.

Now, these are always subjective and fans are always welcome to have their own opinions. That’s important to remember, these are just opinions. Someone’s opinions and there’s no reason to overreact to them.

That said, these are the 10 episodes Entertainment Weekly claimed are standout episodes of the first series, aka The Original Series;

"S1, E3, “Where No Man has Gone”S1 E28, “The City on the Edge of Forever”S1, E22, “Space Seed”S2, E1, “Amok Time”S2, E4, “Mirror, Mirror”S2, E15, “The Trouble with Tribbles”S1, E14, “The Balance of TerrorS1, E10, “The Corbomite Manuever”S2, E6,  “The Doomsday MachineS1, Ep 18, “Arena”"

This Star Trek: The Original Series list can’t miss

In no particular order, I tend to agree that these may be the 10 best episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series. Now, we could argue positioning, rank and even which episodes deserve to be included in the conversation beyond these 10, but I don’t think there’s a fan alive who would reject these 10 if someone gave them a DVD with only these 10 episodes on it.

They are among the best created, and most beloved episodes of the franchise and helped set the bar for all future series to come. They may not be the only great episodes of the series, but they do count among the best.
