LeVar Burton appeared at a panel at Orlando MegaCon in Orlando Florida to talk Star Trek: Picard.

The team is back. For Star Trek: Picard’s final season, most of the crew of Star Trek: The Next Generation will be onboard to help Picard with one final mission. That includes LeVar Burton who portrays Geordi LaForge. At a recent panel at Orlando MegaCon [via Trekmovie], Burton shared what it was like working with his fellow actors again and how everyone has changed for the better.

Burton reminded the audience how close he and the other actors are, adding that when he got married, Brent Spiner was his best man and Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, and Michael Dorn were her groomsmen. So suffice it to say the bond between the actors is tight. And that chemistry helped during Star Trek: The Next Generation. Burton went on to say that the friendship between all of them and everything they have shared over the years, including the births of their children, marriages, deaths of their parents, divorces, and more, has essentially created something special.

The length of the friendships brings a better chemistry, according to LeVar Burton

"And then there was the acting which, if you can imagine how good the chemistry is, it’s better now because our shared experiences are deeper and richer and have lasted longer, stood the test of time."

There was never any doubt that the actors had amazing chemistry on The Next Generation, so to be able to see them all together again, playing the familiar parts, and helping to bring Star Trek: Picard to a close is going to be something to cherish.

"And to be able to come in at the end of what has been a very long journey for Patrick and sort of seeing his energy level rise. because he was dead-dog tired when we got there. I really do believe that we helped carry him to the end in fine fashion, because he was surrounded by love."

These are the actors that helped shaped Star Trek. From 1987 to 2002, we saw them frequently, (not as frequently as we liked once the movies started), and they brought warmth, friendship, adventure, excitement, and great science fiction into our homes and onto theater screens. When the credits rolled on Star Trek: Nemesis, we didn’t know if we’d ever seen them together as a team again. Thankfully, we’re getting one more chance to join this crew on one more journey.
