Star Trek wants you to celebrate Star Trek Day with them
By Chad Porto
Star Trek Day is nearly upon us.
Starting on Thursday, Sept 8 at 12 PM Noon (ET), Star Trek invites you to participate in an event celebrating Star Trek Day. The folks at Star Trek will stream globally for all fans live from the Skirball Cultural Center in LA, Cal. Star Trek Day will have back-to-back, in-person conversations with select members of the Star trek casts. Not only that, but the event will also feature some exclusive Star Trek announcements and reveals coming throughout the broadcast.
To watch the event, go to StarTrek.com/Day.
Of course, the day coincides with the debut of the first-ever Star Trek series to be shown on television ever in “The Man Trap”. While it was the first episode or pilot episode to be seen, it was the sixth episode to finish production. “Where No Man Has Gone Before” was technically the series pilot, as it was the first episode that proved proof of concept following the failure of the first Star Trek pilot; “The Cage”.
Tawny Newsome and Paul F. Tompkins will serve as hosts for the two-hour event, with fellow Star Trek star Mary Chieffo serving as a red carpet interviewer. Additional names include;
"STAR TREK: PICARD, with series stars Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd.STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS, with voice cast members Tawny Newsome, Noël Wells and Dawnn Lewis.STAR TREK: PRODIGY, with series voice cast including Brett Gray and Kate Mulgrew.STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS, with series stars Rebecca Romijn, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia and Babs Olusanmokun."
What else will be going on during the live stream?
The live stream will also include a Nichelle Nichols tribute, and behind-the-scenes set tours of Star Trek: Discovery. One lucky fan will be transformed into a Star Trek alien, while fans will get to walk the Star Trek runway in their best cosplay outfits.
Lastly, performances from musical guest Reggie Watts and comedy stylings of Brian Posehn.
There are several ways to watch the event, the easiest is of course Star Trek.com/Day, but you can also view it on YouTube via Paramount+ and Star Trek’s accounts. Facebook (@StarTrek), and Twitter (@StarTrekonPPlus), or via TikTok (@ParamountPlus).
You can even watch it on Paramount+’s official Twitch page because that’s now a thing. If you miss any of it live, it will be available for on-demand viewing.
