Star Trek: Prodigy has officially released its mid-season trailer filled with surprise returns, including the Borg

Star Trek: Prodigy had a successful first half of its first season, and it looks like it will only get even more exciting moving forward. The newest trailer for the second half of the first season was released at the New York Comic Con and revealed some serious surprises that fans were not expecting.

The most expected but still surprising moment was the crew of the U.S.S. Protostar coming face to face with the real Admiral Kathryn Janeway and her Dauntless class ship. Her arrival even propelled the Emergency Command Hologram version of Janeway to admit to the crew that Admiral Janeway hunting them isn’t a good thing, telling the crew; “…good luck with that.”

The trailer also brought back some major names to the franchise, the first being Admiral Edward Jellico, who will be voiced by returning actor Ronny Cox. He’ll join Billy Campbell as Next Generation characters coming back to Star Trek as part of Prodigy. Campbell will once again play Thadiun Okona.

They’re not the only TNG characters returning to Star Trek: Prodigy

Joining the group of returning characters like Admirals Janeway and Jellico, Chakotay and Okona will include none other than TNG’s greatest threat; The Borg.

The Borg will be a threat this season to some degree which isn’t at all shocking, as the kids of the Protostar are in the Delta Quadrant, right where the Borg are most prominent. When it was revealed that the show would take place in Janeway’s old stomping ground, we wondered when we’d see them, and now we know.

It’s hard to say how involved they are with the overall plot of the series, but they aren’t expected to be a huge player, only due to the fact that the show’s season one villain is the Deviner, so having the Borg have too much of an influence on this season may limit the impact of the show’s core villain.
