Star Trek has six comics under the IDW banner that are out or coming out soon.

Star Trek has said goodbye to a line of books under IDW Comics that numbered 400. The end of that line didn’t mean that Star Trek was coming to an end as a comic, but in fact that it was refocusing its storytelling. The last line of books has all been wrapped up but a new focus on the current iteration of Star Trek has taken center stage, as has the popular legacy characters of the 90s.

The renumbered Trek series is back to #1 and features Benjamin Sisko. He’s teaming up with Data, Dr. Beverly Crusher, and some new recruits to find out who is causing intergalactic mayhem. He’s not the only one who is partnering up, as Star Trek: Defiant will see Worf, Spock, Data’s brother Lore and others also form a group to explore the universe alongside Sisko, just in a different ship.

Both of these shows are going to be sharing the same universe, so their stories will often overlap.

Those aren’t the only Star Trek comics coming soon

There will also be three Star Trek comics based on current running television shows, much as they did with the Discovery line of comics. Lower Decks, Strange New Worlds and Picard will all be releasing or have released comics under IDW’s banner.

Picard’s comic, Stargazer, will fill in the gaps between seasons and help explain how some things came about during the leap in time between episodes. The Llyrian Enigma will be Strange New World’s addition and will show how Captain Pike is dealing with things after the arrest of Una Chin-Riley.

Lower Decks comic on the other hand will simply be Lower Decks-style episodes in a comic book form. All three of these series are mini-series and may get an extended run depending on how they sell.

The last comic that is coming is a prequel to the new video game, Star Trek: Resurgence, which will help set the table for the highly interactive Telltale-like game coming early next year. Be sure to check your local comic book retailer to know if and when these books are coming to a shelf near you.
