Pluto TV is finally adding a second Star Trek channel that doesn’t just play The Next Generation

Nov. 2, 2015 – CBS Television Studios announced today it will launch a totally new “Star Trek” television series in January 2017. The brand-new “Star Trek” will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966. The new series will blast off with a special preview broadcast on the CBS Television Network. The premiere episode and all subsequent first-run episodes will then be available exclusively in the United States on CBS All Access, the Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service.Pictured: William Shatner as Captain James T. It only took PlutoTV a few years to finally add Star Trek episodes that weren’t from The Next Generation.

PlutoTV is one of my favorite services going. It gives you the joy of television, with the ease of streaming, and all for a low low price of free. The channels used to be mediocre to bad, with a few gems sprinkled in. ViacomCBS purchased the outfit and added gobs of their content to the streaming channel, giving it a new look, hundreds of thousands of hours of free content, and most of it worth checking out.

Shows of a certain age are the coupe de grace, with anything from mid-2000s MTV, Comedy Central, and Spike TV being some of the most popular channels, but offerings from Nickelodeon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, GLORY, IMPACT Wrestling, and Bellator all giving fans a variety of things to watch.

One of the early additions after the purchase was a Star Trek channel, which was a complete lie. Yes, it was Star Trek, but it was exclusively The Next Generation. Which was fine, until you got bored of it and wanted something else.

Star Trek is finally getting an expanded foothold on PlutoTV

That time has come. PlutoTV is launching the More Star Trek channel, which will include offerings from The Original Series and Deep Space Nine. Fans can also watch sample episodes from the newer series on the PlutoTV channel “Paramount+ Picks”,

This comes hand in hand with a recent announcement that ViacomCBS will be adding 63,000 new and old episodes to the platform as well. This will see shows like Fraiser, Mission: Impossible, Cheers, Hawaii-Five-O, Criminal Minds, and more get their offerings bolstered.

PlutoTV also features an on-demand option for people who aren’t looking to wait around all day for their program to come on, but I find that to be part of the charm of the service.
