Zachary Quinto has the same feeling about Star Trek 4 that all fans do at this point.

Star Trek 4 has been one of the most talked about movies in the franchise, and not because it was a bestseller or a great movie. It’s been a topic of conversation because it hasn’t been made yet, and there have been so many starts and stops that fans don’t know if the film will ever be made. We’re not sure Paramount Pictures knows, either.

Zachary Quinto, who portrayed Spock on all three of the Kelvin timeline movies, expressed the same level of doubt in an interview with the Independent [via Trekmovie].

"At this point, I honestly have very little attachment to it. All of us would like to come back and make another movie, but I’ve learnt to only get excited about things I know are actually real. And there’s nothing about a fourth Star Trek movie that feels real right now."

Zachary Quinto makes a great point about his level of excitement.

Fans have gotten excited over the fourth movie in J.J. Abrams’ line-up of continuing Star Trek films only to be disappointed. Quinto, on the other hand, says he’s learned to only get excited about things that are actually real.

Back in October, in an interview with Forbes, the actor said he didn’t know if or when the movie would come together and said he would show up when Abrams said they were actually going to do the movie.

"I have no idea if—or when—it will ever come together at this point. I think it’s better for everybody’s mental well-being to just trust that a lot’s happening and when the phone rings, and J.J. says, ‘Hey, we’re actually really going to do this,’ then I’ll show up. But until then, I have a lot of other stuff going on and a lot of stuff to turn my attention to."

That’s probably what all Trekkies should be doing when it comes to Star Trek 4. Just wait until there’s confirmation, a cast onboard, a script, and the filming begins. Then we’ll know it’s really going to happen.
